Textbook: Understandable Statistics, 7th Edition, by Brase and Brase.
Add and Drop Dates: The last day to add is February 12, 2004. The last day to drop is April 23, 2004. Please see me by April 20, 2004 if you wish to drop.
Emergency Evacuation: In case of fire or earthquake, you will follow me outside to a designated safe area. We will wait together there for a short time for emergency equipment to reach the campus and then disperse.
Calculators: Calculators are required on all homework assignments and examinations. (However, EXACT answers are sometimes required.) The TI-83 (or TI-83 Plus) is the required calculator.
Daily Quizzes: There will be quizzes almost every day the class meets in the classroom. Daily quizzes will count for 10% of your grade.
Homework: Homework will be collected daily (including some graded take-home assignments that you will be expected to do in pairs or small groups) and will count for 10% of your grade.
Project: There will be a project that will count for 10% of your grade.
Tests: There will be three (3) tests and three (3) half-hour quizzes that will count for 50% of your grade. There are no make-up tests or quizzes. If you miss a test or half-hour quiz, your final examination grade will be substituted for that grade. The final examination will count for the remainder of your grade. There may be some graded take-home assignments that you will be expected to do in pairs or small groups. The final examination is scheduled from 9:40–11:40 AM on Thursday, May 27, 2004 and will be comprehensive.
Grades: Your grade in this course will be based on your daily quiz,
homework, project, half-hour quiz, test, and final examination scores.
