Survey of Art 1B
Italian High Renaissance

Fast Facts

Ideas begun and techniques developed in the 15th century Italian Renaissance are refined in the Italian High Renaissance, 1492-1520. Increased patronage from the Papacy and by enlightened humanists fostered greater artistic productivity by highly celebrated artists, often revered as “divine”. The universal, Renaissance man concept remarks on the highly valued synthesis of science, art, geometry and nature.
