- Pop Art
Fast Facts
Pop Art was a popular culture movement in which
the artists attempted to reconcile art with everyday life by
returning to imagery of identifiable objects. Although techniques
differ among participating artists, the imagery is cool,
objective, unemotional, impersonal, sensational, fresh,
transitory and usually witty. Commonplace objects provided the
subject for fine art, i.e. Warhol's soup cans. Originated in
England in the 1950's, Pop Art emerged in the United States in
the 1960's.
