CHAPITRE 8: Leon 1

Chapitre 8, Leon 1

Textbook assignment:

____ 1. Go over the chapter vocabulary for this leon as per previous directions.

____ 2. Points de dpart, pages 293-294

__   Read over the text on page 293 for comprehension. Remember that when reading, you may have to reread a sentence or paragraph several times in order for all of the pieces to fall into place. Read the text through a couple of times before looking up vocabulary words you may not know.

One of the reasons for beginning each lesson with a reading/pronunciation of the chapters vocabulary is that you become more familiar with a new word each time youre exposed to it. This should help you be able to accurately guess the meaning of new words when you see them in context. And if it doesnt, youll remember seeing the word in the vocabulary list and be able to quickly refer to the list to look it up. Its helpful to mark each of the vocabulary lists with a tab for a quick reference.

Usually the most important new words used in the Points de dpart section are illustrated immediately following the reading or dialogue. If a word youre looking for doesnt appear there or in the vocabulary list at the end of the chapter, it can often be found in the French-English dictionary at the back of the book (beginning on page A13). There is also an English-French lexicon that youll find useful.
