Course Books:

     A number of books are required in this course. These will help you to study the material we are covering throughout the semester. Remember that books are study tools and not meant to be passed on to your grand children. USE them to learn and understand the natural history of California!
Getting the books: Several options are available to you.

• West Valley Campus: You can simply walk over to our excellent bookstore located on West Valley campus and purchase the items directly. The bookstore also provides an online service in case you do not want to go there in person (WVC bookstore). You can reserve the books to pick them up later or make arrangements for home delivery.
• Ordering online (new or used): New book prices are always increasing. Many students turn to Amazon.com or Half.com or other sites (see below) to find the books of choice. Keep in mind that it can take several days to weeks for your books to arrive depending on where it is ordered from. It is your responsibility to access the reading material. However, one can save much money by getting a used copy of a text (yes, LOTS). The following books are being used in our course fall semester 2011 (the links below lead to the pricing of the books at the two different web sites):

	A compact field guide that tries to cover as much of California's biodiversity as possible. Obviously an impossibility in such a small volume, but there is plenty of useful information crammed into this little gem.	Amazon.com	Half.com
