INTERMEDIATE PHOTOGRAPHY

PHOTO 2 Spring 2002
This course is
designed to further apply the basic principles learned in Photo 1, and provide
more work in print making, film processing, print quality, other processes,
natural light and flash photography.
REQUIRED TEXTS: PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE, Second
Edition, by Michael Leary.

Equipment and Supplies:
A.
Equipment and
chemicals will be furnished for class work. Students will use their own 35mm
cameras, Medium Format and View Cameras are available and may be checked out
for one week.
B.
Students will
use their own 35mm cameras.� Medium
Format and View Cameras are available for checkout
C.������ Each
student is responsible for all equipment checked out.� When working in your lab station, you are responsible for all
equipment in your darkroom space.� Check
your space to make sure that all equipment is present before you begin to
work.� An inventory sheet will be given
to you so that you can quickly check your station.
D.����� In
order to check out equipment you need to present your West Valley College I.D.
card.� Make sure your You are
responsible for all equipment checked out to you.� If it is lost, damaged, or stolen a fee will be computed based
upon the price of the item.� Payment
must be made to the Finance Office no later than one week from the fee
determination or lab use will be denied.
E.������ Students
are required to purchase EXPENDABLE
photographic supplies.� A kit containing
all these supplies may be purchased at the Viking Bookstore or local camera
shops.� Your lab instructor will give a
list of all these supplies to you.

Attendance:
This course
includes so much material, and is so closely scheduled that regular attendance
is extremely important.� There are many
key lectures and demonstrations, which if missed, will not be repeated.� Therefore, you must make every effort to
attend all scheduled lecture and lab meetings of your class.� Students that miss their first lecture
meeting will be dropped from the roster and their spots will be filled by
students waiting to add.� Students added
to the class must return their processed add slips to their lecture instructor
by the next lecture meeting or will be dropped from the class.
Quizzes, Exams, Projects, and Grading:
Lecture work
accounts for 40% of the course grade. There will be quizzes (no make-ups on
quizzes), a midterm and a comprehensive final exam given in this course.� Lab work in Photo 2L represents 60% of the
course grade, with the final project worth 30%. There will be a total of six
different lab projects.� These projects
will have specific due dates and will be handed in, graded and critiqued on an
individual project basis.� More
information on these projects will come from your lab instructor.� A failure in either portion of the class
will result in a failing grade for the entire course.

The following
schedule will be used to determine your grades:
A=100-90,
B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, F=50-0
If you elect to
drop this course you must fill out and process an official West Valley College
Drop Slip.� Your lecture instructor must
sign drop slips during his/her normal campus hours.
Extra Lab Time:
Lab work should be
completed during your scheduled lab period.�
If space is available, you may attend another scheduled Photo 2 lab
section.� There will be a 15-minute
grace period at the beginning of each lab period.� Lab space will be held during that period.� However, if the space is still empty after
the 15-minute grace period, the space will be given to any waiting Photo 2
student.� If you know that you will
arrive after the 15-minute grace period, you may hold your lab space by calling
741-2424.� You may also complete extra work in the Scheduled 49B lab.
