Part 1 Objectives

In Part I, we'll think about philosophy and the nature of critical thinking! You should plan to finish Part in in a week or so.

When you have finished Part I, you should be able to give rough definitions of the following:

Begin to check out the Philosophy 17 Glossary!

 

Part 1 Readings

  1. Read Conway and Munson Chapter 1.

  2. Read What is Philosophy?.

  3. Read Thinking Critically about the "Subjective"/"Objective" Distinction! You need to have a clear idea of the difference between metaphysics and epistemology in order to understand this reading.

  4. Do the Part 1 Self Test.

  5. Read the Essay Assignment for Part 1. This essay is due one week after the first day of class.
